Getting started

Download and open Kaeru

Get the Mac app from usekaeru.app/download. It runs on Apple silicon Macs (M1 and newer) on macOS 13 or later. Open the downloaded file and drag Kaeru to Applications, like any other app.

Windows is coming. Join the beta on the website and you will hear when it lands.

Sign in

Kaeru asks you to sign in with Google or GitHub. There is no password to make up. Signing in connects the app to your account so your allowance follows you, and so you can see what you have left on your dashboard.

You can skip signing in and try Kaeru right away. You get a smaller daily allowance until you sign in.

Open your project

Choose the folder your website or project lives in. If you do not have one yet, Kaeru can start one for you: pick an empty folder and describe what you want to build.

Ask for something

At the bottom of the screen there is a box that says Ask anything, or describe what you want to build. Type what you want, the way you would say it to a person:

Make the sign-up button green and move it above the pricing.

Kaeru reads your project, works out which files matter, and makes the change. If it needs to run something on your computer, it stops and asks you first.

Look at what changed

When Kaeru finishes, it tells you what it did in plain words and lists the files it touched. Open the Preview panel on the right to see your site with the change in it. Happy? Click Save & Back up and the version is kept safe. Not happy? See Undo.
